Maurice Logan, (1886-1977), was an American watercolorist, commercial artist, arts educator, a member of the Society of Six, and a professor at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, California.
Logan was born in San Francisco and grew up in nearby Oakland, California. He studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, the California College of the Arts, and the Chicago Art Institute.
Logan established a studio in Oakland in 1915 where he worked as a watercolorist and commercial artist. He was a member of the Society of Six with Selden Connor Gile, August Gay, Louis Siegriest, Bernard von Eichman, and William H. Clapp. He taught at his alma mater, the California College of the Arts, and was a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Society of Western Artists, and the National Academy of Design.
This work is a watercolor on paper, and measures 14 x 21.5 inches sight size, and 23.5 x 30.5 x 1.5 inches overall.
