Geometric abstract painting by Soviet artist Leonid Borisov, a leading figure in Soviet Nonconformist Art.
Borisov participated in almost every significant “unofficial art” exhibitions in St Petersburg since the 1970s. He was influenced by Moscow’s Conceptualism (early 1970s – 1980s) and by 20th century art from the West, including the work of Donald Judd.
This work is a quintessential work by the artist, and is dated from 1987. It is framed in a contemporary frame, and is signed and dated by the artist, verso.
