A modernist study of early the confluence of the Lehigh and Delaware rivers, east of the bridge, (according to the artist’s notes), created midday on the 7th day of October, 1916.
Bluemner was a prolific artist creating sketches and pondering ideas, often making notations within the sketches he created. Many of his sketches will have elaborate notations on the backs, in english, and sometimes in his native language of German. (It is unclear if this work has notations verso due to the current framing covers the back of the work).
Charcoal on paper.
Good studio condition with some minor discolorations and pinholes in the corners from en plein air creation.
Framed.
Measures 4.75 x 7.75 inches sight size, and 12.15 x 15 x 1 inches overall including framing.
